I've played through it 11 times now.
Last time I did in in a single sitting with 54 deaths and under an hour at that.

First time I played it I had well over 1000 deaths and 4 hours, and that doesn't even include what happened when I couldn't get to the next save.

I enjoy difficult games myself. I'm tired of the hand-holding trend of most modern games...the most fun I've had gaming recently has been with Demon's Souls and Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia, both notoriously difficult. I can't understand my roommate, who just gives up...

I love Demon Souls so much, its an amazing game, it can be very difficult at times and another great thing is levelling up is not the solution... sure levelling up helps, but it barely makes the boss much less of a challenge

Two things I'm proud of as a Gamer: Beating Dante Must Die mode. That was brutal.

Beating Max Payne on Dead on Arrival mode. DOA mode turns off aim assist for the PS2 version, while leaving enemies just as strong as the PC version, making the game incredibly difficult on the PS2 on that mode

Try playing God Hand, Shinobi (for the PS2) and Viewtiful Joe, all hard and fun games.

Isn't that one of the argument as to why games you play against people are better than one player games? Since you can play against people that are harder than the original designers created?

And yeah, for most games time can usually overcome difficulty. Practice makes perfect and all that.
