I understand why MMORPG have levels... the more filling you put between the player and the "end" of the game, more time they will pay for it... or will they?
A friend of mine wanted to play a bit of TF2 again. I gave him some of new items and we had some fun. Now let's imagine I played any MMORPG out there. He would start lvl 1, no gear and couldn't kill anything better than rats or mushrooms.
I think the success of these games now depends of keeping the community together and the leveling part should not be anything more than a glorified tutorial so you can get the hops of your class quickly and get to play with your friends as soon as possible.
