LoL mechanics are too dumb downed for hardcore players who came from DotA. It's fine for people who are new to the genre, but it just doesn't have that same feeling of intense gameplay DotA had.

I play lol personally, though I'm not too good at it, but that's never been an issue, the people i'm matched with seem to be okay with the fact I'm a newbie. Some of them even give me advice on how to do better. Dota, well, those guys weren't as nice to me.

Uh, there was just a LoL tournament at Dreamhack, and there was plenty of ganking. I mean, good LoL teams run a "jungler" in the early game specifically to have someone who can run early ganks.

LoL fucking sucks. Ever watch a pro LoL tournament? It's literally 30 minutes of farming, and after 40 min, there MIGHT be 10 kills total. That's right, in 40 minutes, you will have a total of 10 kills throughout the game. Watch any HoN or DotA game and you will get non stop ganking and action.

While HoN is not known for its friendly community, neither is LoL or DotA. Read through either forums and tell me I'm wrong.

Dota sucks, it has always sucked, it always will suck. The fact that i clogs up wc3TFT game lists is one thing, the fact that every player is a douchebag is annotherthing, but the fact that it is just one heck of a boring game? how is this thing so populer!?

The difference between HoN's and LoL's art styles is sort of like the difference between a Tom Clancy FPS and Team Fortress 2. Some people like their games dark and serious, some like them a bit cartoony and lighthearted. LoL's art is a little goofy and based on characters, and I kinda like that.

HoN and LoL are both good games. Anybody who tries to tell you one of them isn't is kind of retarded. But, they ARE very different. You can say one of them doesn't work for you, for example I prefer HoN's art style more, but both are well-made and maintained by professionals that love them.

I have tried both HoN and LoL; I can honestly say LoL is not only a better game, but along side the great Dev's who actually give a shit about their community (Looking at you HoN), the gamers of LoL arn't thw worst bunch in the universe.

And that my friends, is why League of Legends is superior.
Both communities are fucking retarded, but LoL's is still superior by a large margin.

About the community:I have NEVER been flamed in my ~30 matchmaked games (1600 atm).And a bunch of times I was thanked for my wards/ganks/stacking (played mostly support), thing that has never happened to me in LoL (1650 there, >150 ranked games).
Plus,enemies offend much more in LoL("/all easy").

I had an easy time learning it alone because I play a few sims (Digital Combat Simulator, Silent Hunter, T-72...). HoN has quite possibly the worst community of any game ever created. It makes WoW look like a Nelson Mandella clone convention in comparison.

LoL..... Not quite AS bad as HoN, in my experience, but they're the same out of game as they are in, just about.
If I were to recommend one to start with, I would say LoL. F2P and a community that, in my experience, has the most (still only a handful) people willing to help newbies learn.

LoL, HoN, DotA... take your pick, all of their communities are harsh on newbies.
Undeniably, DotA is the worst. Unless you've been playing since day one, most people don't want you in their game.
