I guess this is already an old comic, but I wanted to say, if you actually read this, Jo, that the second panel has some good perspective. Nice to see your art change up once in a while!

No matter how long you wait, the DOTA community will always be terrible. It's a universal constant.

Also, buy Serious Sam 3.

Well hey, them cooking skills ain't going to improve themselves.
Also, to prepare for DOTA 2 multiplayer, just remember to be a really bad sport about everything.
The village sucked and the people were jerks anyway. It looks better on fire.

So true Jo! I've spent hours looking for ores, doing dumb sidequest, stealing stuff, only to find I haven't done a single decent or main quest in a very, very long time

I like how Engie is showing less skin, and the artstyle is getting better as a result. Great perspective in panel 2!

jo, if i remember right, you ued to shade theese comics much like you are now, i also remember you stopped because it was exhausting to do so, please don't make us get used to this (albeit great) style too much.

Dragons can be annoying, especially when they fly in circles around you and then fly off no matter what you do to try to get their attention. It's even more annoying when they kill you through the chomp kill blow even though they should be dead.(I swear that dragon must of had one HP left)

@kit playing against bots are good for getting games mechanics. That is sometimes hard to get in this game.

Jo, I have never played Dota before, but after playing league of legends, I can safely warn you that learning the game through AI modes will really hinder you once you get into the real thing. The best way to enjoy these types of games is to find 4 other friends to play with against real people.

A good hero would never go dragon-slaying on an empty stomach. A good hero would also keep reminders on hand to go dragon-slaying before the village is burninated.
Engie-tan; poor hero? Or just poor at task management? You be the judge.

Spoiler alert: the dragons don't go away after you finish the main quest :P
But I do get what he means, a friend of mine has clocked 60 hours into the game and has yet to explore any city apart from Whiterun (he's the free-roaming type).

The look of the characters in todays comic is rather weird... I was almist expecting it to be a guest strip... Looks like Jo is experementing.

Also - much as I hate to make more work for Jo, seriously, "bacon hurricane" is right - just the little bit of shading on Engie-tan's hair and clothes makes it look very professional! Nice work! It reminds me of when Gabe (Mike Krahulik of Penny Arcade) was just starting to add shading. ^_^

Ahhh, the modern cRPG. So full of rich and detailed crafting simulations that you won't care if all the other NPCs are eaten by dragons or giants. :D

Knowing heros is 1% of the game. You should rather (if it's possible) play random against bots in order to find one you're really comfortable with. Windrunner is cool and shit, but rely on skill shot and landing a big stun, which may be a little hard for beginners.

Panel 1 looks really different from other comics.
But hey, in panel 4 'the roof is on fire'

That's not skyrim. The NPCs would have started trying to punch that dragon by now because, they ain't pussies. http://www.escapistmagazine.com/articles/view/comics/critical-miss/9237-Critical-Miss-The-Dragonslayer

Well in the playdota forums people suggested that the best place to go for Dota newbies is to play online with other newbies. Enemy bots are too good at teamwork and Ally bots sucks at teamwork

Man, there's so much talk about Skyrim and how good it is.... I'm actually thinking of buying it now. Should I? P.S. love the new artwork style, can't wait to see how the other girls look. :p

Dota 2 is not newbie friendly (Huh, what a surprise -.- )
So small steps is a good idea.
Love this comic, been playing a lot of skyrim and this sums it up nicely

Noth

If you ever need some help, Ask the right people(like me)They'll help you :)Anyway, you're already better than most new players only by playing with bots before playing online. Get confortable with a bunch of heroes and then you'll be good for Online play.
Good luck and have fun testing all heroes.

give dota2 beta key and i would play with you. I would even be the asshole to flame you.
Rather i think thats the only thing i would do... just stay in base and watch every move and flame them

Well, at the very least I suggest you get to know each hero's skills and how they work.
Because it's really HILARIOUS when an Alchemist start shaking his potion, start charging at a weaver, then Weaver simply Shukuchi and wait until the potion explode on alchemist himself.

This is so very true.
Also relevant to the comic: Am I the only one who thinks the models for the Skyrim look absolutely mouthwatering?
