I'd like to bring to your attention the Roll of Resurrection: http://us.battle.net/wow/en/services/scroll-of-resurrection/
Basically another account re-invites you into the game, they get a new mount, you get a lvl 80 char and some other boosts.
(also stabbing people never gets boring)

I was told many times while attempting to play WoW that "the game doesn't begin until you hit the cap." And they're right. The grind to the level cap is just plain dull. I don't level fast enough to reach the "fun" before the boredom kills it for me.

@Ye Old Nerfnow Fan:
The joke isn't "she sticks to tf2". The joke is that it's a lot of time and work to get to a point most would consider the main game of WoW.
Much like the first joke was also not about "going back to TF2" it was about how other platforms have problems PCs don't.

@Tk: no. They made the game worse. It caters to the most failing, uneducated morons and slackers, who can't be bothered to play correctly.
If they went solo to quest, fine. But them getting in goups? Most people are decent players who are gemmed and enchanted, getting group ruining retards.

If you like DOTA and TF2 you should be looking into SUPER Monday Night Combat. I've heard good things from people who play DOTA that tried it out, and I haven't even touched TF2 since I got it.

WoW has 3x experience if you play with the friend who invited you, with this you can easily reach the lvl cap in 2-3 weeks playing about 1-2 hour per day.

Leveling is a non issue now. And there's a whole lot less grinding since death wing, most quests involve shooting around on flying bikes with ladies.
A game business wanting to make money? Perish the thought.
They've done loads to improve the game.

Also, if you dont like levelling, I must say I dont quite get why you'd start playing a MMORPG in the first place. Its part of the fun, its not supposed to be a chore. Mind you, I get why some people woudnt like it but once again, in that case, dont play MMORPG!

I never got any mods for WoW. Since when are those necessary? Also, gold stopped being an issue like two expansion ago, you really never run out of gold in WoW unless you spend most of it on non-combat pets from the AH.

Jo, you should try Allods Online. The level cap is only 51, but it's kinda the equivalent of WOW lvl 80. So less time spent leveling, plus you only have to grind gold from around level 40+, until then you don't really need to and can just enjoy leveling.

the leveling CAN be a drag in places, sure, but the reward of getting to the endgame? wonderful!
and now the average joe CAN see the endgame bosses, even if they are horribly neutered and toned down in raid finder mode...

GW2 seems to break away from the gear and level treadmill.
Gathering skills give you tons of exp now, and pvp is a very healthy dose of exp on the weekends.
I don't see myself ever making a new character again after the Monk though. A healer, tank, and rogue dps was enough for me.. I play tf2 when I need real challenge to be honest!

Well, it certainly doesn't escapes from the grind and levelling paradigm, neither is it worth your money yet in it's incomplete state, but FFXIV certainly appeals to the whole 'try all classes' thing with it's Armory System, it's one of the things about that game I thoroughly enjoy.

Consider for a moment, the new MechWarrior game coming out - mwomercs.com
From what's been released so far, it's gonna have some levelling aspects, and you pick between set roles, but you're free to flit from one role to another (though it's encouraged to focus one levelling one set of skills).

There's GW2 coming soon. No monthly sub, just buy it and play it whenever you feel like.
Also no need to level characters and you can play any class and there's good pvp.

"and bags" I'm pretty sure you'll be able to afford 4 16-slotters. They're pretty cheap on every server. If you don't go two zones without selling your junk items, that's enough.
Anon
"Level the character" It'll take time but it's not that bad, and Cataclysm made most of the leveling easier.
"Gold for mounts" again, optional. purely cosmetic, even. Do you mean riding training? Shoot, I'm sure somebody'd be willing to pay for you since it's not much.
Anon
"Buy the expansions" valid complaint
"install it" Um, couldn't you say the same for DOTA and TF2?
"Download the mods" Um, don't think that's legal. You mean addons? They're optional, Engie, optional, no right or wrong way to do it.

Hey, so far I like star wars for the change of pace, at least leveling a different character has a different base storyline, you get some of the old was rinse repeat play, but the storyline and characters are different, with different responses too. Still not perfect... but getting better.
-_-
Well ddo has quite little grind unless you get into TR scheme or party with TRed players. though sadly on end levels it gets quite grindy if you want epic gear to do epic quests even more easy.but i usually reroll some other char at that point.
Bloo
I can see MMORPGs moving away from some of the more grindy aspects of the genre - eg. GW2 hopefully - but I don't know if the idea of leveling (or, more generally, progression, which you don't necessarily need the specific mechanic of leveling to obtain) will leave.. it's an RPG staple.
