Noobs.R.us??? sounds like Toys.R.us gone backwards and started to make more video games than toys for kids!
I used to go there for Bionicle one of the best Lego's there was, but now we got Hero factory instead ''sigh'' I miss Bionicle...
Take care and remember the way of the Bionicle.

I did read the links, and you're still full of shit. It's people like you that prevent new players from ever becoming worthwhile opponents. Very few people are interested in learning to play a game where their opponents are so hell bent on winning that they kill the newbies the minute the game start

@An Onymous: on TF2, you play (exemple) pyro = noob, sniper = noob, medic = "best player
When I wanted to say about a fun game, I wanted to say is that you play, enjoy, enjoy the moment, being pro or noob, and I'm not a retard screaming the whole time about your equipment or you're late on 10sec

Also, Boler didn't read the links I posted. Thus, this makes him inadequate to handle the discussion at hand.
He doesn't have the necessary knowledge to handle this. He lacks information.

I didn't know noob service existed, I usually just play on normal servers, get my butt kicked a bunch at first, and soon become good enough that others can no longer call me noob since I'm the one saving their butts.

Like explained VERY well in this blog post: http://greedygoblin.blogspot.ca/2010/10/its-cool-lol.html
The problem is that we are forced to play with them. Not in DIII, sure, but in WoW and other MMOs, usually. I'm happy when I get to filter them out, and as for me I know when I am not wanted.

Pretty much, they're implying you can't have fun at higher level. It's just a justification for playing poorly and never improving. Can give plenty of examples.
You don't quantify fun. That's the thing. Those players who justify being weak and playing poor as "playing for fun" are a plague. I.E that female writer who said games should have a mode for people who don't like to play the game and just want to see the story.

There's that sweet spot between RP and efficient gameplay. I reached it. You play efficiently, yet are immersed in the game. FUN TIMES.
"Fun gamers" as you describe, who play not to win are a plague. Scrubs. READ THIS: http://www.sirlin.net/ptw

@Nando Rock: Your are what is wrong with gaming.
"Fun gamers"? So you think high end players have no fun? Fun is subjective and it goes from both spectrum. I wonder how failures like you get fun knowing you suck and not seeking to improve.

I like noob games, i like pro games, i hat DOTA and LOL because there is no space for noobs ou fun gamers

~ you learn the game, but unless you want to stay unskilled for a while, you're going to have play regular and harder servers to get better. Still, going onto noob servers and just stomping everyone every once in a while is still fun.

@goat: Actually, I would agree with Jo here. If you want to improve on a game, you have to challenge yourself, or at least have the patience to suffer through and learn things. I started on a nighteam 2fort server and I quickly learned how to demo. Playing easy mode when starting out can help~

I once joined a newbie game when giving the original dawn or war multiplayer a chance, turned out the other team was three guys with matching colour schemes with french flags on there units, who were definitely no newbies, looking for easy ranking. didn't go back (to DoW multiplayer, that is)

When it comes to a new game, I rarely jump straight to the MP. If the game has an SP component or offline capability, I go there and pound on bots first so I can get a feel for how the game plays.

noob =/= newb.
Get it fucking right people...
The faggot on the right IS the noob here.
I've joined "Newbie" servers before as an old time player, But it was to offer advice if they were willing to listen in, done it in a few games like TF2, CSS, BF3 etc. The servers do help a little but you get some idiots who join just to ruin the fun.

Still it's a good idea to practice the basics on a newbie server or test out new characters or whatever.

"Noob servers" on BF3 are actually traps where high lvls come to rank up their guns.
I stay away from noob "friendly" ( ya right ) servers.

I go to noob servers when I feel like playing with a silly loadout and don't feel like getting reamed for doing so. Then I get reamed by all the people who join noob servers to wreck everyone.

I guess I'm the fourth guy over there then? I'm a damn good player, but I play on noob-servers a lot... Playing "seriously" just stresses me so much XD.
Plus, on noob-servers, I can mess around as pyro and not fail too miserably :P.

It's true. I started TF2 playing on servers my friend (Who had played for years) usually played on. Got my ass kicked every match for the better part of two and a half months. Started doing decent, getting at least INTO the top ten.
Went to PUB games, top 3 every round. Feelsgoodbro.jpg

I love smurfing, but most games (like LoL) I quickly get kicked out.
But usually I can get by as a newbie by playing incredibly lazily, and watching a tv show at the same time.

There's a certain amusing aspect to getting 64 Flesh Heap stack in 40 minutes on Pudge that doing so in normal game would have people calling you jerks for not finishing the game...

Smurf: someone who is actually good, but pretends to be a Noob. He feigns intelligence and/or skill, but he actually HAVE feigns intelligence and skill, thus confusing Newbies to hell and back on what exactly is intelligence and skill in XXX game.

Newb: As in Newbie. Someone new to a game, inexperienced, etc.
Noob: Someone who's bad at a game but feigns intelligence and/or skill of it in order to look better, but just looks like an idiot.

There are no actual noobs on a noob server. Everybody there is a pro player pretending to be a noob so that they can prey on actual noobs. Any sane noob knows that, and so the noobs migrate to normal servers.

Reminds me of CS:Source, only in that case almost everyone on the server is a grandmaster Counter Strike player with a degree in owning and there's maybe one or two actually noobs who will never get better due to being slaughtered within 15 seconds of the round starting.
