@Die MK Lol, kinda sounds like communism. The point of hard content, I think, is that it rewards those who are more skilled, at least that's how it's supposed to be. The point of MMO's is immersion, think of it as a real reward for players who try harder. Too complex of an idea to explain, read SAO.

Problem with this is that tackling hard content is a choice.
Wether we do it or not is good, it is a choice, failure would be a good experience, success would be an achievement.
If though content is no longer hard, there is no choice, it becomes the most practical thing to do it done by default

Those who go "Don't change it, it's fine by me" are just trolls.
When they make something easier, more people get to do it. And ore people doing something is what MMOs are all about.
If they really wanted a challenge they'll ask for difficulty settings.

Does no one else realize the irony of this strip's message considering the name of this webcomic series?

@Bellar: So very very true. When I played Clichécraft during WotlK we hardly reached prof. putricide. But I loved watching playthroughs on Youtube, MMOChampion and the like, seeing Lich King being taken down by the world firsts.
It was grand. It only made my eventual kill on him that much greater.

@Huttj509: Jo learned. Had he made the same content in a DotA comic there would be whiners, had he made it in ME there would be whiners. Original content is the only way to be safe.
I certainly approve.

No matter what strip is done, people always can, and will, find something to complain about.
This isn't a fast food chain, pplz. lrn2appreciate.

Now, I really wonder if such thing as "challange" even exists

I mean, it is nice that you make strip about mindless MMO games, but it is a nice when I discover something new by reading the comic. For example, I bought FTL, because it was mentioned here. Although I only played it for 2 hours, it was enjoyable and I do not regret the purchase.

Too many MMO/Dota-related strips lately. How about something different? There are people that play single player exclusively.
Instead of reviewing modern games, you could make strip about something classical (could spark some interest). How about Shin Megami Tensei or sega's "super contra"?

Anyone else find that they can no longer move the Photo Note frame to where they want it, or change its size?

I'd like to see games implement a library and/or bar where you can go to find out weaknesses of difficult mobs.
Like in fantasy TV shows, the heroes never just walk into the dragon's den. They go to a nearby village and find people who can be of help, or pass along an old legend of its weaknesses

While I dislike seeing nerfs in non competitive or single player games, I do see the point in them. Personally, I like to blast through the game on one of the easier difficulties, to enjoy the story, then I go back and play on either the hardest or one of the harder difficulties, for the challenge.

I don't get the joke, i thought Red haired Engie-Tan was speaking for the people who do enjoy challenges.

If it wasn't for Demon's/Dark Souls, gamers wouldn't get a decent challenge these days.

Totally true. You are allowed to do everything and choose any path, unless it is labelled as easy!

The problem is that in any strategy game with multiple players any problem that has a worse cost-benefit ratio will get sidelined as much as possible in simple course of business.

@Miksa: Yeah, pretty much this. It's only logical: the harder the enemy, the more epic reward you get.
But of course we all now the golden true: these type of game are far from logical.

"nerf" is of course code for "critical game balance issue"

I have to agree with mike. Increasing the reward could be a better choice than nerfing.

A challenge is fine if you have the time and interest to take it on. But if you simply wanting to reach the next level, advance a story or find those extra coins you need, then you do what works.

@Johnny Zazaki: Beyond even that is this absurd assumption that 'because a player doesn't experience content directly, there is no value to it for that player.' Indirect experience is some of the most impressive stuff there is and helps set the scene for players and frame their experience.

Should all games 'dumb' themselves down so that anyone can play and do well? Is it worth it to get those few extra customers? That's why its done, after all, to appeal to a larger audience and thus sell to them. Should that be the goal behind all game design? Fuck difficulty and challenge?
World of Clichecraft Player

Or Malygos (control dragons to kill him instead of fighting directly). While in some cases this is more trouble than it's worth, for some it makes the boss very memorable, even enjoyable. Mind you, what was fun with 9 other people can be quite annoying many levels later and alone...
World of Clichecraft Player

I don't care about "hard" or "easy" so much as "fun" or "unique" experiences. Some bosses in the game are boring, just hit them in thee face until they die. Other bosses are very hard, having unique mechanics you have to watch out for or teach about, like Heigen (floor fills with poison) -c

The problem is effort and reward. Why do something extremly hard, risky and time consuming when you can instead do something far easier and get far more out of it?
Yes some people talk about how they enjoy the "challenge" but the truth is most don't actually do that.
@Vampirspiegelei: At least it's probably not WarC, because the only nerf they can do there is probably removing enemy AI completely.

it's abut risk vs reward. instead of making the things easier, just make them drop a little bit more. this will make people decide that the risk is worth the reward.
