@Frost: It makes more money, ergo it will kill every other existing business model. This is how business works.
I'm not just talking about F2P games. The underlying philosophy is the disease here. Bleeding out your customers indefinitely is the new status quo.
@Khaz: F2P games aren't going to suddenly cause the others to stop existing. It's just going to be another business model in the gaming industry. Which surprise, will be pretty popular because people like FREE SHIT.
@Frost: That's the most sickening part of it, that you and everyone else thinks it's a good thing, that it's the best option we have.
You don't even remember that there was once a time BEFORE all this shit.
@Khaz: Well so how do you think ppl are going to make game without money sir ? And you are wrong sir, since the first game made, money is the thing that ppl look for. You don't want to make game that didn't give you money. And Game IS a Business, that why they called them professional.
@Khaz: How exactly is the cosmetic version of F2P getting popular a bad thing? Would you rather people be able to pay money to have an advantage instead?
"esports, compendium, microtransactions"... How to go from excited to nauseated in three words.
I loathe this "new world order" of monetizing video games. I always have and I always will. Games are not games anymore, they're a business constantly trying to profit off you.
I honestly hope you're right Jo, and this is just the prelude to something ELSE, because I feel like DoTA is the most underwhelming popular game in a long time. Not bad, but not nearly as good as it's being made out. It's WC3 without base building, really. And you control yourself. On one map. Yay?
