@Beastwolf: No as much. DOTA involves levels you earn each game, from level one to level 25. You can't just let another player... oh wow it is stupid. They could just let other players take over the abandoned hero when someone needs to leave.
they improved low prio a while ago actually.
its now single draft meaning you've got a good chance at picking heroes you know(unless you have a ridiculously low hero pool) and won games are less, at least for me as I only had 1 game to win after I got in there due to abandon twice.
@Kilgore Trout: That's the short of it, anyway. Every person has their own life and personal reasons. Whatever it is, they took wrong turns in their life a couple hundred times to end up there.
Better to think of them as they are. Their dickery hurts you less then.
@Zacharial: In this case it means killing your OWN courier, on purpose. I've seen guys buy a whole herd of couriers and then send them right at the enemy heroes to give the other team free money and XP. They do this because they are dicks and they want to make their teammates miserable.
Now it's all about multiplayer or co-op. It's all about Dotas, Hearthstones, WoWs, CODs and Battlefields. "Campaign is not important" they say. "Nobody play singleplayer" they say. "Who need a good story, when you can listen insults by random people" they say. I miss old times...
@Jo Pereira: It MIGHT help if something were done to make the matches shorter. People don't get anywhere near as frustrated in Overthrow, which I think is partly because it goes so quickly.
@Khaz: I understand how that could be annoying, but I'm different; I can't type and focus on playing at the same time. So if I say "They're all pushing mid, let's all go there to defend!", only to lose the teamfight because one person didn't hear me and didn't show up, I'll be unhappy.
@Khaz: It sucks if people who just played badly despite trying their best go there. There have been times I've played badly and had one or two douches on my team say they were gonna report me for missing an important Black Hole or whatever, but it's never resulted in low prio.
@Kilgore Trout: I can't stand having to listen to people talking on mic in dota. It's bad enough I have to work with random people, having them yelling in my ear all game is intolerable. I type. It doesn't impact my gameplay one bit, because I'm fast.
It's so much worse than that. It's not where the "toxic" people go, it's where the unpopular go, and also a fuckton of random people who just happened to get blamed for a loss one too many times. It's cruel and unusual torture inflicted on those who don't deserve it.
@Noam Ben Arih: Really? Because another Dota player I know told me that he tried Heroes Of The Storm, and that the people he played it with were even nastier than what he was used to in Dota 2. I guess he might have just had bad luck in who he was teamed with, though.
I didn't insult this person or anything, but I WAS upset and probably angrier than I should've been. Hopefully I don't get reported and land in low prio because of that. I'm calm now, but having a big lead and then losing it is quite frustrating.
Sort of related: I was in a game earlier with a CM who didn't seem to be listening to people. I typed "Can you hear what I say on mic?" "No." I kind of lost it a bit. "Change your settings for god's sake so you can hear us! If you can't hear what your teammates are saying, you're hurting the team!"
I eventually managed to do it, but it took a number of tries, and I shudder to imagine what it'd be like to have to win FIVE or TEN games to get out! If Valve wanted to make me fear Low Priority, they succeeded.
The bad news is that they changed it so that all games in LP are now All Random. I don't HATE All Random, but not being able to pick the heroes you're best with makes it more difficult to win the game and get out.
Recently, a bad internet connection gave me trouble staying connected to games, which meant I got one or two abandons I normally wouldn't have, and that was enough to send me into low priority. The good news is that I only had to win a single game to get out. Bad news to follow.
[cont] now, from time to time you will find players who just do whatever, who avoid caps and plainly feed the enemy team or use healer/support ships to go front-line. It simply infuriates me. I can only carry my team so much
Any team-based game will spawn anger and rage when teammates are just plain bad and/or counterproductive. This will build up over time and carry over into subsequent teams. Take Fractured Space for example, it's sort of a MOBA/naval warfare combo in space. 5v5, gather resources to lvl your team, etc
the game's is pure cancer if you have russians/retards on your team
this is a team game, but this is also a free2play game with kids who aren't can't comperhend teamwork
heroes of the storm is a decent substitude for my Moba needs.
@Undying3132 those are the guys that buys couriers and feed the other team with them./Emd The thing with the low priority is that people are reporting bad players(not wanted to do anything bad in the game, but played bad) in there too
In League of Legends is kind of diferent. If you are reported too many times, you get chat restrictions and it takes longer for you to find a match. And nice players are rewarded with some rewards now and then. I like how the are trying to fix the problem and not just hide it under the carpet.
oh its scary as hell ,alright. i went there once after the new update because i got sudden irl stuff to do. won 2 matches without being counted because of the constant dc's. finally got out of there at the 3rd match since everyone didnt dc. the amount of shitstorm is even worse than the old LP.
