My family always got on my case for asking for well-done steaks. Now I never eat steak at all- everyone wins! Pork tastes better anyway- hell, properly seasoned tofu tastes better... to me. Don't hate, be happy with your extra steaks :P
Well-done is basically a Triple A game that's been distilled to the point that anyone can play all of it and experience everything the game has to offer, and doesn't really have anything worthwhile in the long run, and has none of that good game-meat taste. You want a steak somewhere in the middle.
@George Leung: Depends on the place. Pork and chicken are always well done (for obvious health reasons), but bovine meat most of the times is medium-rare.
Fight rare steak chauvinism. Humans evolved to eat COOKED food. If you like steak rare, fine. but stop trying to shove it down everyone else's throat. Well done is good too.
I absolutely LOVE that this strip was made entirely because people gave Jo shit for eating burnt steak. I love when a following community actually has influence. It's so great.
I like my meat to be actually cooked, but not burnt.
Well, there is one virtue to steak philistines: you can give them the crappy cuts of meat, since they'll never know the difference once it's leatherized.
Question: I heard about Brazilian Barbecue (Churrasco). Since the city I live in does not have one, may I ask if that's only roast pork, or also well done in regarding to Beef?
On extra cripsy: That's actually "Black & Blue" steak, where outside are burnt but inside are rare and juicy. Delicious.
For me, when I eat my meat, I want it cooked so that when I cut it, it still moos.
Jokes aside, I like them blue rare, or at most rare.
I'm okay eating medium or even well-done steaks when those are the only ones available, but given the choice, nah.
@Gratua Cuun Thing is, if you don't like "Flavor A", you should avoid eating "Food A", instead of arguing that "Food A that have no Flavor A" is best.
And I like my steaks very well done on the outside and still juicy inside, with the very middle red. If anyone wonders how, read "Cooking for Geeks"
"By fire be purged, Die insect"
Where did burn come from?
We can pigeon hole you all day jo!

That's Ragnaros, he's the "personification" of the element of fire in Warcraft lore. Jo just uses his typical artstyle, which makes him look like a burning skeleton with horns, but he's actually more of a lava tornado wearing a horned skull-like helmet and "skeletal" armor.
I had a medium cooked burger once. the middle of the pattie was raw, I may have gotten half way through. But ya, raw burgers are gross.
BUT STEAK SHOULD NOT BE CRISPY!!! I usually go medium sometimes medium well.
About halfway through cooking, add a few tablespoons of butter, herbs, and aromatics to make a hot baste for finishing the steak. For a medium steak, 140 F or 60 C internal is the sweet spot at a total of nine to 10 minutes cooking.
The hot, hot heat is essential to a creating a nice crust on your steak. it's about creating a crisp crust on the outside that adds a ton of flavor to the finished steak. Keep the steaks moving, turning or flipping every minute or so to create a thin, even crust on the outside. 2/?
Ok Jo, if you're gonna cook steak on a whim take 30 min to an hour to prep your steak whether you soak it in juices or use spices for a dry rub. Put your heaviest pan, preferably cast iron, over high heat and let it get so hot it smokes a little before adding the steaks to the pan. 1/?
personally i like my meat very well done and dry but that might be because i grew up with a mom that couldn't cook and burned much of the food and thus got used to it, she doesn't do that nowdays but rather makes it like a normal person.
