@nightarix: What gives fiat currencies any more value that bitcoin? None of them are backed by anything; the real scam was when governments realized that they could just break their promise to redeem money for precious metals and print it ad infinitum.

Swagner, when a government has an army and isn't afraid to use it, the population will use whatever currency they are told. There will always be some brave souls willing to do black market trading, but prison alone is a pretty good deterrent. Becoming an organ donor like in China even better.
Really, we bitcoin investors are the most pessimistic people. If we thought that the dollar (and every other fiat currency) was going to survive, we'd have just kept that.
