Shadowrun Hong Kong is great, they're all old now, but the story gets more compelling in Dragonfall and the gameplay in HK is just more fun (except the decking bits, they're still fun, but less make a character specifically so you can see this bit)
va11halla has a few changes depending on how you interact with the limited choices you do have but it comes down to paying attention and following or ignoring drink orders.
Shadowrun Returns was indeed quite lackluster from midgame over. You should try Shadowrun: Hong Kong, though, it's way better and even the hacking is nicer to play.
Also, the Mega Drive one actually let you get more karma points by doing randomly generated missions whenever you wanted, instead of forcing you to hoard and carefully spend points to avoid screwing yourself over.
What annoys me the most about Shadowrun Returns is how much Decking sucks, from interface to mechanics to options, especially in a setting where the Matrix is so important and you'll need to do some hacking sooner or later. The Mega Drive one back in the day had clunky controls but was still better.
I never recall having any bugs with Shadowrun Returns, but out of the three newest Shadowrun titles, Returns is definitely the weakest. I'd highly recommend Dragonfall and Hong Kong instead of Returns.
Onestly, Cyb 2077 is full of problems, but you were complaining for the very last and non existing ones (example: they are not cyborgs, they have lungs). This strips confirms me that you reeeeeally like to split the hair. Or you're a magnet for bugs
I'm always confused to hear about game breaking bugs about games I didn't have any serious issue with.I've played through Returns and Dragonfall, a handful of custom stories, and I never had any problem.
That's an absolute shame! I played through and had no bugs at all, had no idea so many others were having a hard time! Shadowrun has to be one of my favorite cyberpunk games, I still have yet to play Hong Kong
Shadowrun: Dragonfall has been the smoothest for me. Returns was a lot of learning, and Dragonfall is much more polished. I even favor Dragonfall more than Hong Kong since the campaign seems bigger.
SR: Hongkong is by far the best part and it's completely self-contained standalone campaign. Much better than SR Returns. Dragonfall was ok but still - HK is the way to go!
I've played VA-11 HALL-A and it was pretty good. It's more of a visual novel kind of game but it's full of cool characters, and the bartending minigame is pretty fun.
It has cyberpubk, it has waifus. It's a wonder you haven't played it before, to be honest.
Those eggs are to another company's also cyberpunk mystery adventure game: '2064:Read Only Memories'. Also a lovely game with a touch more gameplay, if you need it.
VA-11 HALL-A isn't really a game. It is a visual novel where you can make some minor choices that can lead you down a different path, plus a few easter eggs for the creator's other games (stories?).
Love Nerf Now always Jo, please keep comicsing, also you should totally do a strip about the Gamestop "stonk market" right now where a lotta yubyubs off Reddit just totally wrecked and bankrupted a major hedge fund for trying to sell Gamestop stock short! :)
VA-11 HALL-A is a mediocre game if it could be considered a game. You can mix some alcohol to obtain some results, and sometimes you can increase or decrease the doses and nothing else much, it is a novelty but meh. However, the soundtrack is top-notch.
I actually like SR: Hongkong better than Dragonfall. But yes, playing SR sometimes feel like bashing your head through a wall if you don't prepare. The game actually becomes stupidly easy with the rerun through.
Based loosely off of "The Snow Queen", a story by Hans Christian Andersen, we see things take a different turn as the demons become central characters, and the side characters stick around. Yup, that's the only differences. Enjoy!
