i played TF2 for years, have good memories about it, but sometimes is for the better simply letting it go.

Ian. Valve makes more money as an online distribution platform/storefront than they ever did as a game developer/publisher. GabeN literally makes money while he sleeps.

It's funny that they can waste time and money on vanity projects like this, but the thought of actually putting out the last episode of Half Life, which would most assuredly sell, if not make oodles of money, never crosses their minds.

Valve as a game developer died many years ago.
I don't expect anything from them beyond administrating STEAM.
Not that I'm saying that is a bad thing. STEAM is still the leading virtual platform for a reason. I just feel they should stop wasting resources like this.

Honestly, monetization model was completely wrong for the market. All the big competition is F2P with selling cards and tickets.

Also Valve has a long history of working on sequels but never producing everything. Some of that mountain of content made it into Alyx. Like the tip of an iceberg.

I'll give them this much, they didn't torch the game and run. You can still play it, with all the previously released cards unlocked from the get-go. Just don't expect any more updates from here on.
