A friend of mine was helping me on my first L4D2 run, and after we exited a building, he told me I could use the bile bomb on a rare infected to get an achievement.
While I understand he was trying to be helpful, and most people would welcome this kind of advice, I couldn't care less about achievements and his tip reminded me of how distracting they can be. Sometimes I just want to play the game, free of extra arbitrary goals.
At least this was not a run of L4D1 on hard, which we failed several times because one of the players insisted on using only his pistols for the Akimbo achievement.
These small and big hassles made me realize achievements are an unwelcome annoyance instead of an interesting addition. I enjoyed my games more without them.
