I used to be a melee fighter, always dodge-rolling in combat ... until I took an arrow to the knee. So I had to re-train as a spellcaster and let me tell you, being a long range artillery is also nice and beats the previous constant medical expenses.
And then it brings up the game of Economics. Can you kill the enemies fast and efficiently enough with magic that you can keep your Blue Flasks refilled enough to not run out of juice? Figuratively and Literally.
I've learned that playing the Souls series and having Soul Arrow is a bit like going into a magical world...and having a Gun. The only reason I stab things with a sword is so I can save ammunition, and pulling out a staff is like pulling out a pistol and cocking it.
