I usually don't want sequels of my favorite defunct games (homeworld,x-com and simcity for example) because more than not, this means a totally different team working on it, trying to update it for the new generations. These games usually have no semblance to the original and sometimes are just a cheap way to capitalize on a dying franchise.

If I really, really want to play one of my old favorites I prefer to hope to some new mod instead, or just play the old game, dated has it may be.

Maybe it's harsh to judge the unreleased Simcity game without ever giving it a chance but facebook is home of Farmville, and I expect a similar experience there, only with Police Stations and Hospitals instead of cows and corn.
