Just go to the wiki, find out its properties and mix a pot with something that has the same property. Now you won't have to eat it.

@pong Itt brought a tear to my eye... Then I remembered I had a huge stock of silver and gold ingots and more garnets than all the Jarls of Skyrim put together! Pair of Daedric swords, here I come!

@Mur: And even if, he apparently has awesomely powerful lungs that can compress a thousand PSI, even if he would do that all the time instead of just on the rare occasion he has to breath fire... Those are his freaking lungs. As far as I know even dragons don't digest with their lungs.

@Engineer Actually, you can get 15 feet using nothing but paraffin and your lungs. You build up all the pressure you need in your own lungs and mouth. Three feet is some one exhaling normally. A dragon could easily multiply that without needing unusually high pressures.

Heh. Reminds me of the Penny Arcade strip featuring the "Crisp Basilisk Urethra".

Just mix it with other crap, then sell the resulting heinous concoction to the local apothecary...

I must admit, I felt a little apprehensive about sampling "nightshade." No, that does not "damage health." It "kills you painfully."

@DDT: Considering how fast I've known some Khajit to go through a pile of Skooma, this is as farfetched as you might think.

Worst part is, to learn it's properties you would have to eat it.

This reminds me of an Ancient China ruler called Shennong who tasted hundreds of herbs. Including poisonous ones such as the "Gut tearing grass"

@Nando Rock: lol my friend got a dragon kill because he got jumped by a frost dragon, ran for his life, and then the dragon attacked a frost troll.
Frost troll won.
Also, use flame atranach against fire dragons. The dragon won't attack at all if the atranach is closer than you.

@Engineer: Except as anyone who's played the game and paid a little bit of attention knows, when dragons breathe fire or ice in this they're actually shouting at each other. In other news, it's fucking magic.

I am fairly certain that alchemists ony take a mild nip of whatever they are taste-testing. I have a hard time imagining my Khajiit Spellsword eating an entire elk antler.

...continued from below: to get a range of ten to fifteen feet they must be able to reach pressures of at least a few hundred PSI. I would assume a big powerful dragon would be able to pressurize their lungs/fuel source to over a thousand PSI.

@mur: You need fairly high pressures to breathe fire like dragons do otherwise your firebreath wouldn't go very far (probbably a few feet). even firespiters use special techniques to spit their alcohol or other flammable liquids further and still they only get around 3 feet.

I'd comment, but then, I'm the same person who'd pick up every single damn tin can in Washington D.C. in Fallout 3, just because it was an interactive object..

You don't need thermal pressure to breathe fire.

You need a way to project one or two chemicals, be it gas or liquid into the air and ignore it.

Be that from a chemical reaction or a ignition spark from something.

Trying to contain high pressure in organic bodies doesn't work well.
Yes Again.

Liro Raeriyo

while im on that subject of pickpocketing, why doesnt anyone call reverse pickpocketing what it really is, planting.
According to the "Lunar" games, dragon droppings are actually like diamonds... Makes kind of sense considering the kind of thermal pressure that goes on inside of them, to be capable of breathing fire...
Liro Raeriyo
yeah i just randomly create potions because im not eating random shit, but i like alchemy, making poisons is super awesome, and that ability in pickpocket basically is Skyrims equivalent to exploding pants in fallout
