I know what you mean about that. I went and watched Amnesia The Dark Descent online. It honestly isn't as scary as many people make it out to be. I think I'm going to do the same with MW3 because my computer can't take it currently.

well at least you don't need to watch the gameplay videos, since it's exactly the same as mw1 and 2

I'm not a fan of this too, but I did it with Amnesia like pong who commented below me. More fun indeed.

You know, I did the same thing with Portal 2. Except for the Pit Boss achievement, that game is SO LINEAR! ;)
Ricket

I did the same thing for Catherine, as there's no PC version.

@An Onymous: Why on earth would you play HL1 on a console? The Half Life series is one of the poster children of PC FPS games!
Alex
Good idea. More time for Skyrim.
someguy

i'll wait until MW3 price drops to buy it, for multiplayer

Compard to games fom the 90s the modern shooters are nothing other then movies with a slight level of interaction and as those they don't deserve being actually played by hearted gamers. They had it coming, watch it on YouTube as long as it's not banned.
Yep

I did the same thing!

started doing this with Half-life 1. Was pretty hard to play the controls on my PS2, so I just saw it all on youtube. Doing the same now with other titles I couldnt find the time to play.

Ouch, what a kick in the nuts of developers. And @nobody: Internet comics or game reviews are not copyright infrigiment! Cant say the same for walkthroughs...

This is being my opinion of Jurassic Park too. It's not really being an actual game, but rather a movie... but I have to say, up to what little I've been able to see, it *is* a pretty neat movie.

haha nice. Did that with all the metal gear solid games too. Best 16 hour movies i've ever seen, but playing them was really good too.
dirtdog
Damn it! Why didn't i think of that... Could've spent 60 bucks on something smarter. I didn't even finish the campaign and multiplayer is only fun for half an hour.
SarZ
I should have done that. You sure don't have to buy MW3 for the multiplayer part. Play your old MW2 or BO instead. Hopefully less cheaters, for sure better maps, better balance in weapons and more options for the PC.
nomoresoap

Did that with Red Faction: Armageddon. It was like pulling teeth but it saved me some money.
MichaelShepard

I did that for Ace Combat: Assault Horizon. I didn't mean to. I actually wanted to buy the game. I still do, even if I know how the story goes now.
kittyloaf

This is what I did with MSG4. Only it was still 9 hours long.

This is pretty much the only thing you can do if you want to inspect a game without having the console to actually play it. I did it for both Batman Arkham games, and I'm not ashamed.
Twi

@Hooligan Gamer: Normally, I would agree with you. But I just did this and I got the same experience as when I marathoned my cousin's MW2 in a day. Except this time I did it in a fraction of the time and without the headache that came from sitting in front of a TV mindlessly shooting things all day.
SRG

See that Jo made a comic off of my comment.
Oh I do this for every game except for GTA clones.
I wait for someone to post a video up with it being boggled down with mods and glitches that cause flying taxis to hit people then watch it.

beware of SOPA, if it gets aproved all videogame related sites with copyrigth infrigment will be banned, meaning no more nerfnow and no more walkthrough on youtube
or so I have heard

I found the game Amnesia to be boring and tedious and since I found the horror aspect to be too predictable and mostly relies on you freaking yourself out than actually scaring you, I found it way more fun to just watch someone (day[9]) who is afraid of the game, play it.
Davtwan
@Hooligan Gamer: If story is the main focus of the game, then the nearly same experience can be captured by watching it. This sometimes a sign that the gameplay isn't really making much of an impact on... the game.

And that's a red flag for the game right there.

Never thought of it. Good idea. Doing it now. :)

Now i can play my BF3 with no worries about Mw3 History

hahahahaha wtf....watching... a game...
Hooligan Gamer

What happened to the good old days, when you were giddy as a school boy to get a new game in your hands? By just watching it, you've lost an experience.

quite good, i did the same for some games i didn't have the calm or time to beat them but i was interested in the plot.

I did this with ALOT of games, when I realized it was more fun watching the story and the gameplay without having to deal with the tediousness and concentration, and able to fast forward past some grinds.

This is so fucking true.

Ya preety much this
Rathial

I did this for a couple games :P people like uberhaxornova ssohpkc dsp and other creatures and casters make it sometimes more interesting than it would be actually playing the game.

Sometimes though for I just... conveniently manage to fine the games iso file ;) Only when I am short on cash

Wraith

I did the same thing today actually.

Saved me 60-70 bucks :>
I did it even simpler, read a short summary of the plot. All I needed to know about what happened, who died and who didnt... Must admit I got bored after watching the first 1 part of the cutscenes >>

Why would you need to watch a playthrough of MW3 to get it out of your backlog?

The campaign is only 15 minutes long...
PyrosNine
Yeah, I do the same thing too! Either a let's play, a speed run, or a straight up playthrough, especially if a game peaks my interest but I don't have the time or money to play it!

I watched MGS4 that way, and Modern Warfare that way, so we have likes alike.

this is what i do with most games - plus movies by going on wikipedia
my friend gets so mad every time i talk about wikipediaing for plots of games and movies.
