Being seen with your disguise for more than 10 seconds is generally a bad idea even if no one knew there was a Spy. (I.E. Sure, having everything gives a bonus. But all the individual non-hat polycount items are easy to come by (I've already got most of them, myself) and the bonuses you get for having them all mean you've gotta carry some dead weight around.

YER would be good for C&D spies, who find a safe place to wait out the initial spy checking. But the nature of the Saharan Spy set feeds into DR strategies which, more often than not, are employed by failspies.

It is also true how brutal it is against unaware players, especially on PL and CP. There are rumored plans of Valve delaying the death notice for YEW. Heck, the backstab icon is the same as the regular knife. I hope for more fixes on the knife for it to be used against more competitive players soon.

YER is tricky to pick up, but if you master it, I'll honestly be worried. Negating sound, making for a stealthier spy? That worries me.

The scout set is alright but turns you into more a support player. Scattergun + milk is the way to go. Oh and you can take on heavies with vanilla weapons if you know how to play.

Actually, according to the TF2 wiki, the fish has higher minimum damage and lower maximum damage.

L'Etranger is nice, but nowhere near as game-changing as YER. It sounds nice on the surface, but it's hard to cloak-and-run while under fire.

Your Eternal Reward is the best weapon in the update, hands down. You pick off an easy target, waltz right up to a multi-engineer nest, and go on a goddamn rampage.

I like the black box, there have already been several times where the healing from it has been enough to save my ass, especially in combination with the pickax to make a hasty retreat.

You're definately not alone on the disappointment with the Darwin Shield, Jo. I was really hoping it'd reduce damage done on the back since offensive Snipers get pumpeled by Scouts and Pyros at the back often. Moreover, even with the set's headshot protection, a fully-charged bodyshot still kills.

Mad Milk is amazing. I don't have it yet, but I seen Scouts use it where there are two rushes opposing each other. The Scout's team gets healed as they fight the opposing rush. The Heavy especially gets healed a ton from any opponents mowed down by his Primary.

I've freaked out so many people with this horrifying revelation. It makes me chuckle.

I know a few career spies who swear by the Eternal Reward. It has a mechanic that makes kill-and-replace a viable tactic: When a spy backstabs someone being healed by a medic with the Eternal Reward, the healbeam is automatically transferred to the spy. Literally in the blink of an eye. Beautiful.

Shortstop is OP. It's like the FAN, but instead of knockback it's bigger clips and tighter spread, skyrocketing its damage. Even better than regular scattergun, due to way faster reload speed.

The eternal reward is ok, but it encourages you to use your cloack more cause you can't disguise, so it's really only good with the cloak and dagger which just means that you end up sitting around doing nothing while you wait for it to chrage (or is that just me?)
