I've played a x1000 private RO server. It tends to get boring after you reach max level and the only real thing to do is make a SinX and gank ppl. I now play WoW and I play it avidly. It's very fun if you can find the right quests. Especially the ones that are there for the fun.

There is the never-ending gear grind, but after playing Aion with the horrendous drop rates, it's not too bad.

That said, I'll have to pick up Maple Story again, and maybe Silk Road Online if they've actually toned down the insane grinds.

There's also the concept of Rest Experience in WoW [and similar MMOs], where if you actually log off for a while, you get 'rewarded' with a shorter grind.

But especially now that you can recruit people and level together with 300% experience up to level 60, it's very easy to level...

Not comparatively, at least. WoW has a helluva gear grind ...but at least you have something to "show" for it. Your character looks different.

You need iron fortitude to AOE the same mobs on the same map for over a year, off and on, to get to late-middle-game (let alone endgame) of Korean MMOs.

In Ragnarok Online, I had my leveling strat down, but quit at level 95. I calculated that it would take me 108 hours of raw mob grinding - not including resupply runs - to get from level 95 to 99. It takes YEARS to get to max level.

That's why WoW is NOT a grindy game.

maple story is a bit of a grind, but i find it more entertaining then WoW at times

People saying WoW is a grind have no idea what the word means. Doing lots of quests isn't grinding, because you are moving to new places, killing new things, etc. Sitting in MapleStory holding down attack for 5 hours killing thousands of the same monsters to level once is grinding.

Maplestory has since had a big list of changes, the biggest being the EXP curve was made drastically easier to deal with. No more killing monsters 10 levels above you and getting .000001%.

Unfortunately the big problem now(in my eyes anyway) is how BADLY Nexon is whoring out microtransactions. :|

Most korean games are good for their graphics but they take a shit ton of time to level up like Maple story and Ragnarok online. And also the person named "Korean" thats got a bit of swearing in there. for example 개새끼야 means like b!tch and 시발 means f**k (yes i can read korean)

I used to play MapleStory and got bored of it real quick.
The free-to-play Korean game of choice for me now is Luna Online. At any level here are mobs that give you 0.15% or more per kill. Most of the quests give anywhere from 5% to 20% towards your next level. There's no grinding at all.

Rival Forces Online (discontinued in the west, Codemasters iirc).
Now THAT was a grind fest (1 in 1000 Mobs drops items for quests, around 10 base XP/Mon & 1.ooo.ooo XP to reach Lv2, Equipment even rarer,Skills have their own XP bar coupled to your Charlevel,etc)

Played my time lineage 2 and then jumped around multiple f2p mmorpgs until found DDO. It really is different from other mmorpgs. Not only there is very little grind but many quests can bedone without slaughtering everything. There is even bonus for not killing anyone during the quest.

I played RO for 5+ years, from playing official to being a GM on private servers to finally owning my own private sever. When me and my group of friends made the switch to WoW the "grind" to 1-80 felt excessively easy.

I only recently quit playing ro I had played since the korean beta. (borrowed a account from friend who lived in korea and never gave it back) I mostly played on the actual servers but I was also a gm for a private server or 2. That game was one hell of a grind.

You haven't seen the worst, in my country, Taiwan, the MMORPG are known for super low progress gain.......Korea has no match for this.

You know, since the Renewal, Ragnarök online has just the right amount of XP coming: Much easier than it was before, but it's still one hell of a grind. Considering that is the entire point of the game, that's the way it should be.

Witcher only has 3 kinds of choices: grey-grey, grey-black and black-black. And you can bonk almost every named (and some unnamed) female NPCs.
